Vettel Wins, RedBull Bags Constructor’s Championship Award

In every race or competition, everything comes down to one defining moment — the championships. The same is true with F1 races, every team knows what’s at stake and everyone is all geared up to win.

For Sebastian Vettel, it was a sweet victory indeed! Aside from being the youngest driver ever to win F1 championships at the age of 23, he is also the 2nd German to win the coveted victory, right next to Schumacher. Vettel arrived at the Yas Marina Circuit 15 points behind from the F1 race leader, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. The odds are clearly against him. He needs to win 25 points to grab the championships and hope against hope Alonso will finish no higher than fifth. With the exceptional display of unflagging spirits, cunning and precision driving, and yes, a whole lot of luck, Vettel managed to snatch the championships right under his competitors’ noses. Alonse finished seventh in the race and Webber trailing behind on the eighth place.

It was indeed an unexpected victory for Vettel and the rest of the racing fans. While the German driver had won 4 our of the 18 races, he was nowhere need the lead for the championships. In fact, during Hamilton’s win in the Belgian Grand Prix last August, Vettel slipped behind to 31 points but managed to climb slowly back up in the succeeding races. Talk about not losing sight of the prize even if the odds are not in your favor.

Congratulations to Red Bull Team!
